Mostly Australian-based Anthony D'Anna has been importing Italian wine to Australia and making wine in Italy for a number of years. The Gigi label came about through conversations with the old locals in Tuscany about the way things used to be done and so he came up with Gigi as a way to showcase local varieties and traditional winemaking practices. This Bianco is made from old vine Trebbiano. It displays apple, lemon and ginger with a bit of texture for good measure. Anthony describes it as being peasant wine, made very simply, but with a real character and soul that stands out. Kind of like the old Italian wine of yesteryear. Crazy value!
