Golden Child Wines produced their first wines in 2016. The foundations for the wines were laid years earlier though, as James Hamilton had grown up around the vineyards that his father planted in 1997, which are now in the process of being converted to organic practices. This scrumptious basically a rose/rosato rather than a red wine: the grapes were de-stemmed and the juice was left in contact with skins for three days before pressing to older oak for fermentation. This 3 days maceration time has resulted in a more robust style rose with intense cranberry and wild strawberry flavours and a tangy, slightly grippy finish. The wine then spent 9 months aging on less in the barrels before bottling. Easy going and downright delicious.
