Since the 1100's the Mattioli family has resided and cultivated the land in the tiny hamlet the Romans once called Collecapretta (hill of the goats). Today their farm is 8 hectares in total: 2 with a mix of local olive trees, 2 with ancient grains and about 4 hectares of old vines local to the area. Small production, organic and biodynamic with zero sulphur. This delicious red is savoury, crunchy and smooth with cherry and red fruit flavours. It's made from 100% Ciliegiolo which is named after the Italian for 'cherry' and (according to DNA tests) it's a distant relation of Sangiovese!
