Frank Cornelissen established his estate on the northern side of Mt Etna (Sicily) in 2001. The Belgian native has established a cult following, now one of the most sought after producers in Sicily, consistently making mindblowing wine in small enough quantities that we only see tiny amounts here in Australia.
The Susucaru is a field blend of 85% Nerello Mascalese with bits of other ancient local varieties: Nerello Capuccio, Minella Nero, Uva Francesa and Minella Bianco. It's so elegant and structured, displaying raspberry, strawberry, dark cherry, blood orange with a minerality and touch of earthyness. Gorgeous rare Sicilian wine with luscious fruit and tannin despite its lighter appearance. Amazing!
The Munjabel (100% Nerello Mascalese) is full of ripe red and dark fruit with a beautiful smooth tannin giving a real structure to this complex wine. Frank, we don't know how you do it, but you keep on doing it! Incredible and unique Sicilian red - Top notch.
