Red Semillon, Arneis, Pinot Gris, Riesling, Chardonnay
Kuitpo Forest (Adelaide Hills), South Australia
We've collaborated with a bunch of local winemakers who we love and respect. This is the latest in our series of wines made from our crazy, wild, love affairs!
The always amazing Moorak brings us this rose style gem in collaboration with our sister restaurant, Leigh Street Wine Room of Adelaide. Jordan Hein of Moorak Wine had this to say about it:
"Sharing a mutual appreciation for alternative wines, started us in a left-field direction, well clear of a regular Rosé.
An uncommon blend of varieties, from Kuitpo, in the Adelaide Hills. Co-fermenting Skin contact Red Semillon and Arneis. Skin contact Pinot Gris, plus direct pressing Riesling and Chardonnay. For texture, adding the Lees from Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier.
A progressive development, a kind of no-end-point-until-it-happened, freestyle process. The result was surprising, but made sense of the eccentricity, for both myself and the crew at Leigh St. Fundamentals from a classic wine, it's a Rosé with all the hallmarks you want or expect. But respectfully, it hits the mark in an uncommon and untypical way.
An approachable wine style, challenged with an alternative (Moorak) approach."
It's bright, textural and Juicy with notes of red nectarine, grapefruit, lemon rind, stone fruits, berries and a refreshing acidity and tartness (with a hint of a Campari kind of thing going on!). Beautiful stuff - we're proud as punch :)
